Rules and Policies
The Organizers of the Costa Rican Classic and "Dance for World Peace" are proud to run the events under the auspices of the Costa Rica Government remaining Neutral in its political association. Cohesively adhering to the rules and regulations of the following dancesport representative organizations. WDC, WDCAL, IDSF, NDCA, IPDSP, DVDIA, ISTD, BDF and any other recognized national organization by our fellow dancers. At This time the Costa Rica Dancesport Industry is in its founding stages, it is our mission to help develop it. Age restrictions: Pro/Am and Amateur one Dance: Adult + Junior: PT (up to 12) JR (13-15) A (16-35) B (36-50) C (51-60) D (61-70) E (71+) Closed and Open Pro/Am Championship: A (16–35) B (36–50) C (51 +) Pro/Am Scholarships: A (16-35) B (36 +) Amateur Novice and Pre-Championship: A (16-35) B (36 +) Open Amateur Events: Age (16-35) Pro/Am Jr. 3 Dance: PT (12-Under) JR (13-15) Level Restrictions PRO/AM Pro/Am students may dance one level below their actual age category with a maximum of two levels allowed in each style/division. “A” Division cannot dance down. Students cannot dance up an age level. Only Closed syllabus is allowed. Categories are: Closed Bronze/Silver and Open. PLEASE NOTE: To compete in the Scholarships, a student must dance those same dances in single dance events per Scholarship. No Exceptions!

Top Teacher Points System: Allocation of points for calculation of Top Students, Top Teachers & Top Studio will be awarded on the following basis: * Each Entry 1 point * 1st place 8 points * 2nd place 7 points * 3rd place 6 points * 4th place 5 points * 5th place 4 points * 6th place 3 points * 7th place 2 points * 8th place 1 point * Per recall 1 point
Pro/AM Multi-dance events entries: Double Above Points. Each Entry Point(s) will be deducted for uncontested events.
Top Teachers: To qualify, the Teacher, with a minimum of three Students, must all be entered on a package. Alternatively, a Teacher with less than three students on a package may qualify with a minimum of 75 entries. Sharing Students does not qualify both Teachers. However, once a Teacher qualifies, points will accumulate from all students with whom they dance. Refer to the Cash Prizes & Awards for eligibility requirements. Top Teacher BONUS To Qualify, the teacher must enter and dance a minimum of 100 hundred entries. Bonus money will be $5.00 cash back per dance.
Top Studio Awards: Trophies will be awarded to the top studios in the following categories: * Small Studio - From 1 - 2 competing students. * Medium Studio - From 3-6 competing students. * Large Studio - 7 or more competing students.
Top Students Awards: Trophies will be presented to the Top Bronze, Silver and Gold Students in Both American & International Styles for both Male and Female Students. Points are calculated from all entries and placements in relevant styles and levels. (Students must be on a package with a minimum of 10 entries)
Top Solo Exhibitions: Awards will be given to the Top Male and Female Solo exhibitions. REFUND POLICY There will be no refunds given after March 16th 2010.. The organizers reserve the right to provide a refund for any package and/or entry fees paid to CRC after entry closing deadline. Organizer may apply requested refunds to the following years event at the discretion of organizer. Systems Used The Skating System will be used for Scrutineering all events. Comp-Manager will be the event registration program used. There will be no private photography and /or videotaping whilst in the ballroom during the event..
DISCLAIMER
Participant hereby forever releases and discharges the officers, directors, any person, employee affiliates or business entity affiliated with the 2010 Costa Rican Classic from liability for the following: Loss or theft of articles left in changing rooms, the Ballroom, or Hotel Rooms, injuries sustained by any participants or any person attending this event. Participant acknowledges that (s) he attends this event at his-her own risk. Participant shall defend, indemnify and hold Event Organizers harmless from and against any and all claims, demands, losses, suits and expenses relating to this release and authorization arising out of Participant’s actions or negligence.
